About CNAP
Our Mission
To create a legal and regulatory climate in which Advanced Practice Registered Nurses can use their full potential to improve the health and well-being of all Texans; and
Educate Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and stakeholders about the legal limits of APRN practice.
Our Focus
- Expand prescriptive authority
- Ensure clinical privileging
- Increase third party reimbursement
- Improve recognition of APNs
- Inform APNs on laws and regulations
Our History
In 1991, the Coalition for Nurses in Advanced Practice (CNAP) was organized to accelerate legislative endeavors in Texas for Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs). Resources and collaborative efforts were needed in order to achieve common goals. Read details of CNAP history.
